Chair caning from design classics

Is the wicker on your chair worn or broken? We give classic design chairs and other chairs with woven seats new life with professional chair weaving, so they can last for many years to come.

Chair weaving carried out with experience and precision

Our blind and visually impaired chair weavers have extensive experience with the precision work that good chair weaving requires. We weave chairs by designers such as Hans J. Wegner and Børge Mogensen, including the Y-chair, J39 People Chair, and other classic models with woven seats.

Each chair has different requirements for both weaving pattern and execution. We work with techniques such as envelope weave, checkerboard weave, and double weave, and create a weave that suits each individual chair and its original design.

We primarily weave with paper cord, a strong and durable material used on many Danish design classics. As a general rule, we use natural-colored paper cord, but for selected chairs, we can also offer black paper cord.

Price and submission

The price for chair caning depends on the chair's model, size, and the weaving pattern to be carried out. A classic dining chair typically starts at around DKK 1,000, while larger chairs and more extensive weaving work cost more.

We have workshops in Copenhagen NV, Aarhus, and Horsens, where you can drop off your chair and have it rewoven.

If you have a chair that is not one of the classic models, you are also welcome to contact us. We are happy to assess whether we can help with the task.
